Pilgrims Sculpture

Located near the Acheen Street Mosque, the "Pilgrims Sculpture" is a steel-rod artwork from the "Marking George Town" series. This sculpture commemorates the historical role of this area as a center for Muslim pilgrims. In the past, Penang was a major departure point for Muslims from the northern region of Malaya and southern Thailand who were embarking on the long sea journey to Mecca to perform the Hajj.
