About Penang Waterfall Hill Temple (தண்ணீர் மலை கோயில்)
The Penang Waterfall Hill Temple, officially known as the Arulmigu Balathandayuthapani Temple, is one of the most important and oldest Hindu temples in Penang. It is dedicated to the deity Murugan. The temple is majestically situated on a hilltop, high above the Penang Botanic Gardens. To reach the main shrine, devotees and visitors must climb a formidable flight of over 500 steps, a journey that is considered a form of penance and devotion.
The temple is the focal point for the annual Thaipusam festival in Penang, during which hundreds of thousands of devotees throng the temple in a spectacular display of faith. The temple's grand, multi-tiered gopuram (entrance tower) is a stunning architectural masterpiece, and from the temple grounds, there are breathtaking views of the city.
