About Penang War Museum
The Penang War Museum is a historical site located on Bukit Maung in Batu Maung. It is housed within the remnants of a British military fortress built in the 1930s to defend the southern approach to the island.
The museum covers a large area of 20 acres and includes original underground tunnels, ammunition bunkers, observation posts, and living quarters. It serves as an educational site documenting the events of World War II in Malaya, particularly the Japanese occupation and the lives of the soldiers stationed there.
