About Penang Street Art - Kids on bicycle by Ernest Zacharevic

This is the most famous and iconic piece of street art in Penang, a mural that single-handedly launched the city onto the global street art scene. Created by Lithuanian artist Ernest Zacharevic for the 2012 George Town Festival, this large-scale artwork on Armenian Street features a painted image of two smiling children, a boy and a girl, riding on a real, old bicycle that is physically attached to the wall. The mural beautifully captures a sense of pure, unadulterated childhood joy and freedom.

Its clever and charming blend of a two-dimensional painting with a three-dimensional object makes it highly interactive, and it has become arguably the most photographed spot in all of George Town. It is an absolute must-see and a symbol of the creative spirit of the city.
