About Penang Monkey Beach
Monkey Beach, officially known as Teluk Duyung, is one of the most beautiful and popular beaches within the Penang National Park. It gets its name from the large population of crab-eating macaques that inhabit the surrounding forest and often venture onto the beach, much to the delight of visitors. The beach itself is a stunning stretch of fine white sand with clear, calm waters, backed by the dense, pristine rainforest of the national park.
Monkey Beach is accessible in two ways: by taking a scenic 15-minute boat ride from the Teluk Bahang jetty, or by embarking on a moderately challenging 1.5-hour hike through the jungle trail from the park entrance. The beach offers a perfect escape into nature, with a rustic and tranquil atmosphere that is ideal for swimming, picnicking, and wildlife spotting.
