Octopus tree tokun

The Octopus Tree is a famous natural landmark located within the Cherok Tok Kun Recreational Forest in Bukit Mertajam. It is a giant Mengkundor tree (Tetrameles nudiflora) characterized by its massive, buttressed roots that sprawl across the ground like the tentacles of an octopus.

The tree is estimated to be over a century old and is one of the largest trees in the state of Penang. It is a primary attraction for visitors to the recreational forest, serving as a popular backdrop for nature photography and a testament to the region's ancient rainforest heritage.
