New Jetty (Mixed Surname Jetty) 十姓橋

The New Jetty, also known as the Mixed Surname Jetty or "Chap Seh Keo" in the local Hokkien dialect, is one of the clan jetties located at Weld Quay. What makes this jetty unique among the others is that, as its name suggests, it was not dominated by a single, powerful clan. Instead, it became home to various families with different surnames who were not part of the larger clans.

Because of this, the New Jetty has a different character and history from its neighbors. It is generally a more residential and less tourist-focused jetty, offering a very authentic and quiet glimpse into the daily life of a traditional waterfront community. A respectful walk along its wooden planks provides an insight into the diverse social fabric of the historic clan jetty settlement.
