About Lim Jetty
The Lim Jetty is one of the seven remaining historic clan jetties that form a unique waterfront settlement at Weld Quay, George Town. It is a living heritage site, where a community of wooden houses is built on stilts over the sea, connected by a long wooden pier. The Lim Jetty was traditionally the home of immigrant families belonging to the Lim clan, who were involved in maritime trade and labor. A walk along the Lim Jetty offers a fascinating and authentic glimpse into the traditional, close-knit lifestyle of these waterfront communities.
Compared to the more famous and commercialized Chew Jetty, the Lim Jetty is often quieter and more residential, providing a more peaceful and less-crowded opportunity to appreciate the rustic charm and the unique history of this iconic part of the George Town UNESCO World Heritage Site.
