About Khai Lake
Khai Lake is one of several stunning, man-made lakes in the southern part of Penang that were formed in former mining quarries. These "hidden lakes" have become popular off-the-beaten-path destinations for their surreal and picturesque beauty. Khai Lake is characterized by its dramatic setting, with steep, reddish-brown quarry cliffs surrounding a body of water that is a vibrant and striking shade of turquoise or emerald green.
The unusual color of the water, a result of the mineral composition of the former quarry, creates a beautiful and otherworldly scene. These lakes are a favorite spot for hikers, adventurers, and photographers who are willing to make the trek to capture the unique and beautiful landscape.
