About Frog Hill
Frog Hill, also known by its Malay names, Bukit Katak or Guar Petai, is a stunning and surreal scenic spot located in Tasek Gelugor, on the mainland of Penang. This is a former quarry and tin mining site that has been dramatically transformed by both human activity and nature into a truly unique landscape. The area is characterized by its many mounds of reddish-brown earth and a series of abandoned quarry pits that have filled up with rainwater, creating small lakes of a startlingly vibrant turquoise color.
The incredible contrast between the brilliant blue-green water and the earthy red of the terrain makes for a breathtaking and highly photogenic scene. It has become a very popular, "Instagram-famous" destination for hikers, drone pilots, and anyone in search of a beautiful and otherworldly landscape.
