About Edgecliff Gallery@Penang Hill

Edgecliff Gallery@Penang Hill is an information and education center housed within a beautifully restored Category II heritage bungalow. Originally built in 1937 by architect J.C. Miller, the Art Deco-style bungalow is perched on the edge of a cliff approximately 200 meters from the Penang Hill Upper Station.

The gallery features five permanent segments: The Time Tunnel, Biodiversity, Heritage, Funicular, and Culture. These exhibits showcase the rich history, engineering feats of the hill's funicular railway, and the diverse flora and fauna of the UNESCO Penang Hill Biosphere Reserve. It is the first project in Malaysia to receive the Historic Building Tool certification from the Green Building Index.
