About Cannon Hole-Sculpture
The "Cannon Hole-Sculpture" is a witty and imaginative steel-rod artwork located on Lebuh Armenian, as part of the "Marking George Town" public art project. The sculpture is cleverly positioned next to a real hole in the wall of a building and depicts a caricature of a young boy hoisting himself up to peek through the "cannon hole." The artwork plays on the name of the adjacent Cannon Street and the tumultuous history of the area, which was the scene of clan fights in the 19th century.
It's a humorous and engaging piece that encourages passersby to interact with it and to think about the stories and the history that are embedded in the very walls of the city.
