About Botanical Gardens Penang
The Penang Botanical Gardens, also known as the "Waterfall Gardens," were established by the British in 1884 on the site of an old quarry. Located at the end of Jalan Kebun Bunga, the gardens are a major recreational and heritage site on the island.
The park is famous for its lush tropical flora, including several specialized gardens such as the Fern House and the Lily Pond. It also serves as the gateway to various hiking trails up Penang Hill. The gardens are home to a significant population of long-tailed macaques and dusky leaf monkeys, and they remain a free public space for exercise and nature study.
