Beihai Doumu Palace RajaUda 斗母宫

The Beihai Doumu Palace, located in the bustling area of Raja Uda in Butterworth, is one of the most significant and grand Chinese temples on the mainland. "Beihai" is the Mandarin pronunciation for Butterworth, and "Doumu Palace" signifies that it is dedicated to the Taoist deity Doumu, the Mother of the Big Dipper, who is the central figure in the Nine Emperor Gods festival. The temple is renowned for being a major center for the celebration of this festival, which takes place over nine days in the ninth lunar month.
