About Astro Rock
Astro Rock is the nickname for a massive, flat boulder located on the eastern slopes of the Penang Hill range. It is accessed via the Sun Gate trail starting from the Penang City Park (formerly Youth Park), involving a hike of approximately 1.5 to 2 kilometers.
The rock serves as an exceptional viewpoint, facing directly east over the densest part of George Town, the Penang Turf Club, and the hills of Bukit Mertajam across the channel. Due to its position, the area is shielded in cooling shade by the hill range in the late afternoon, making it a popular resting spot for hikers.
