About Patongko Hutton Lane (since Merdeka 1957)
This legendary hawker stall on Jalan Hutton has been selling "Patongko" (the Thai name for youtiao or Chinese crullers) since Malaysia's independence in 1957. It is a historic and beloved street food institution in Penang.
The stall is famous for its exceptionally crispy and airy patongko, which is often eaten with a cup of local coffee or dipped into Bak Kut Teh. They also sell a delicious glutinous rice ball snack called "Ham Chim Peng." It's a must-visit for a taste of traditional Penang street snacks.
